SHAYKHA MARYAM BINT SHAYKH IBRAHIM NIASS RTA - THE SERVANT OF THE QUR'AN

When Shaykha Maryam Niass r.a was born, her father Maulana Shaykh Ibrahim Niass r.a was making the Tafsir of the Qur'an. He was about to start the 19th chapter of the Qur'an (Surat Maryam) when he was given the news. Baye r.a asked of the baby and he was told it's a girl.
He said: "I expected to have a boy, but she will live and will have her place among men, will compete with them in quest for knowledge and she will be respected and be pious."
She was then given the name Maryam the mother of Isa Alayhissalam.
Thus, the following history repeated itself:
وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا وَضَعَتْ وَلَيْسَ الذَّكَرُ كَالْأُنثَىٰ وَإِنِّي سَمَّيْتُهَا مَرْيَمَ وَإِنِّي أُعِيذُهَا بِكَ وَذُرِّيَّتَهَا مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
"Allah knew best of what she was delivered - the male is not as the female; and indeed! I have named her Maryam, and indeed! I crave Your protection for her and for her offspring from Satan the outcast." (Q:3vs36)
Shaykha Maryam Bint Shaykh r.a said in an interview: "I have lived a good life alongside Baye Niass and I only have extraordinary memories with him. As a father, he loved me very much and always had a particular look at me. While I was only five years old, Baye Niass said he wanted to take care of my Quran education personally. At the time of his first pilgrimage to Makkah, he decided to entrust me to someone else, since in those times, the pilgrimage activities in Makkah was a severe task and sometimes, pilgrims die along the way. Baye Niass then entrusted me to a Mauritanian Scholar by name Ahmad Rabbani to learn Quran.
I continued my learning until my father's return from Makkah. Later, I was able to master the Quran completely, while Baye Niass later taught me some secrets of the Holy Book. Then it was the turn of a man named Ahmad Thiam to ensure the innermost part.
When I managed to master the Quran completely, my father was so happy that he offered me two gold boxes. My dad was so exited that he used to bring me with him often on his travels.
Next to my learning the Qur'an, my father had always watched my spirituality and at the age of fifteen I took the Wirdi Tijani which is one of the starting points of the teachings of Shaykh Ahmad Tijani and Baye Niass. Before I got married, my father had made me undergo the Tarbiyah, that is, to go to the quest of God and His countless Secrets."
فَتَقَبَّلَهَا رَبُّهَا بِقَبُولٍ حَسَنٍ وَأَنبَتَهَا نَبَاتًا حَسَنًا
"And her Lord accepted her with full acceptance and made her grow up a good growth (Q:3 vs 37)."
This is witnessed by the whole World.
Shaykha Maryam Niass r.a impacted thousands with the Qur'an and made them masters of it. She satisfied the Prophetic saying: "THE BEST AMONG YOU IS THE ONE WHO LEARNS THE QUR'AN AND TEACHES IT." And the saying: "CONVEY FROM ME EVEN IF IT IS A VERSE." She was a role model and a spiritual guide, a great mother of the helpless ones and a generous giver. She is an epitome of goodness (Ihsan), and an Empress in the realm of Sainthood and above all, she is the walking Quran, the daughter of Maulana Shaykh Alhaj Ibrahim Niass r.a.
She returned to her Lord in her eighties while her Lord is pleased with her and she is pleased with Him. May Allah expand, illuminate and beautify her abode and may she endlessly receive showers of Allah's blessings and mercy. Amin.
