THE BEGINNING
On the special day,
4th April 1991, the day the red sulphur among Sheikhs, the crystal
lamp of civility, a knower of hidden meanings in the Holy Quran and pure
essence of the truth, a paradigm of excellence, a whirlwind of spirituality, a
waterfall of revelations, a volcano of divine love, a whirlpool of attraction,
a rainbow of divine attributes, courageous, knowledgeable, matured mind was
born, in person of Sheikh Jamiu Ajadi Sanusi (‘Amiolohun’, i.e. ‘Sign/Emblem of
God/Ayatullah’) to the family of Alaso Dudu in Kishi, Oke Ogun Axis of Oyo
State, Nigeria.
The earth shone with
excellent rays when he was born, people always trooped to him to find, through
him, the holiness and happiness of this life and hereafter. He is an ocean to
quench the thirst of spirituality in all hearts. He became the talk of the town
when he told everyone to come for salat during the Ramadan of 1993/1994 when he
was 2-3 years old and to the surprise of many, both young and old succumbed to
the infant’s call. So they came for salat in the compound instead of going to
the mosque in their area (Oke Omode Mosque), in which he led the whole salat
for that Ramadan in his father’s compound.
People noticed that
he was a gifted clairvoyant/seer, he was also very eloquent, confident and sensitive
beyond his Age. He tells people about Islam and back it up with words of the
Holy Quran.
The Darkness of
Ignorance vanished in the illumination of his knowledge. Neighbors were amazed
at the unbelievable divine powers he possessed as a little boy. Part of the
early signs is that he walked and spoke confidently before he was one and half
year old. People visited him to ask about problems of their lives and their
daily affairs. He would pray for them and prophesize the outcomes. As a result
of the aforementioned spiritual factors and physical attributes he possessed,
he became very famous in his home town. The 3 major reasons for their astonishment
and his fame was that;
1. He was so young for
all what he possessed.
2. He never attended
any Islamic school nor has anyone teaching him what he was saying.
3. Whenever he prayed,
the prayers were accepted immediately.
He was born into a
polygamous family and he is the last born of his mother. He has 3 elder
brothers namely Mr. Lukmon Sanusi, Mr. Musodiq Sanusi and Mr. Gafar Sanusi.
He was enrolled to
primary school by his father because his desire was to see him become a
graduate, rather than going into trading/business as it was in vogue in the family.
He was forced to return home because he was living alone since he was seven
years old in Ajagun house at Oke Omode area of Kishi where people do come to
see him for prayer and spiritual assistance. During those days, he benefited
from the intellectual support of one of his brother’s friend, Nurudeen Ajana by
name. He completed the Primary School in 2002/2003. During the primary school
days, he was the one who led on religious matters. He did different lectures in
his hometown from one mosque to another. Anywhere announcements were made that
he was coming to give lectures, both the old and young came out massively to listen
to his sermons. Despite his fame and light of the knowledge which shined brightly
all over the community, his father wasn’t in support of the development,
probably because he felt all he was doing was too much as a little boy. Sheikh
was in Jss1 at Kishi Community Grammar School in 2003 when he left his hometown
entirely for the beginning of new segment of his propagation and religious agenda.
Though, before he
left he was a religious figure in his primary school, he was among MSSN (Muslim
Students’ Society, Nigeria) preachers in secondary school, he was the main
scholar for Sheriff Guard of Kishi branch. He was also an authorized preacher
in Kishi Central Mosque under the leadership of the then Chief Imam “Sheikh
Soliudeen Alli”. All scholars at the top echelon in his hometown supported him
and allowed him to deliver lectures in various mosques, especially in their
personal congregation too. Great scholars like Sheikh Latif Sakaloro, Sheikh
Jamiu Oke Mopo (Jagunmolu Addinni of Kishi Land), Imam Wahab Oke Omode, Sheikh
Imolere, Sheikh Wahab Gbodofu, Sheikh Kareem and Baba Ile Ojapa including Alfa
Tohib and Nurudeen Ojapa, Alfa Tajudeen Alawo etc. He also enjoyed the support of
the Aare Musulumi of Kishi Land Alhaji Hameed Agbaje. He was growing stronger
and better till 2003 when he left his hometown (Kishi).
THE JOURNEY
There is a saying
that goes thus “the journey of a thousand miles begins with a step”. This
journey had no specific destination, no expected shelter nor fitting robes for
the voyager. Despite being young and fragile, Sheikh was effervescent in
character, confident and outspoken.
Earlier in the year
2003, Sheikh was invited for a lecture in Igboho town by Sheikh Mudashiru
Oloola (Khalifatul Khulafah Tijaniya of Yoruba Land) & Chief Imam of Igboho
Central Mosque. Sheikh delivered an awesome lecture to which everyone in
attendance were astonished at how a little boy like him could decipher
encrypted quotes and analyse so many things in the Holy Quran which he used in
preaching to the Muslim congregation (enjoining them to be righteous in their
doings and to always be God-Conscious).
He was also invited
by the Chief Imam of Ogboro for visitation sermon and prayer for the town. The
gathering was graced by the old, young and prominent people in the society. All
present were amazed by Sheikh’s ability to illustrate and buttress his sermon
with the Holy Quran at such a tender age. Talks about him started spreading
like wild fire across neighbouring towns in Oke-Ogun. He started preaching from
one neighbouring town to another, spending 2-3 days before returning home.
On one fateful day,
he embarked on a journey without invitation, to a place where no one knew him
nor was anyone expecting him. It was at a town (in Oke-Ogun axis, Oyo state) called
Saki. On getting there, he made enquiries about where he could spend the night.
He was directed to one of the leading musicians who was wealthy, in person of
late Muhammad Aiki Olusola (Messiah). Sheikh explained himself to him but due
to some spiritual attacks happening in the town then, he couldn’t accommodate Sheikh
in his house. So, he referred him to his brother, Mr. Fatai Olusola who ordered
a bike man to take Sheikh to a hotel called Balako Hotel, opposite Muslim Hospital,
Saki. The Bike man’s name was Baba Quadri. He and Sheikh talked and Sheikh
pleaded with him to come and pick him as early as 5am so they can go to a
nearby mosque for Fajr prayer, so he could ask for permission to speak to the
congregation after prayer. As early as 5am, Baba Quadri came to pick Sheikh as
promised and they went to Mokola mosque, Sheikh spoke to the imam and during
the interaction, the imam noticed the eloquent manner in which he spoke Arabic
and his choice of words in explanation of the Holy Quran. He agreed to let him
speak to the congregation after fajr prayer. He informed them that there was a
young Islamic scholar who was there to preach and pray for them all.
After the prayer
that morning, Sheikh delivered an impeccable lecture. That was where he met Mr.
Uwais, a car dealer who accommodated him for some days before travelling back to
Togo. Before his journey, he introduced Sheikh to his brother (Mr Hamed
Electrician) who took Sheikh to his own house. Sheikh was invited from one
gathering to another in the town. Talks about him circulated the whole town, and
fortunately the king heard about him, so the King, Oba Tijani (Okere of Saki
Land (Now late)) invited Sheikh to the central mosque in his palace to come and
deliver a sermon. He wanted to hear directly from the little boy everyone was
talking about. The king, queens, chiefs and everyone in the mosque during his
sermon were left in awe after his sermon. Since then, Sheikh became the king’s
ally and was given free access to the palace, sometimes he sits with the king
and his chiefs whenever they are passing judgements. At that tender age of 12,
he was already standing in front of kings and queens. He became highly
respected and regarded, so much that almost every known Islamic cleric/figure
in that town invited him to come and deliver sermon in their respective Islamic
organizations, clerics like Sheikh Oloko, Sheikh Mujahideen, Sheikh Alimi,
Sheikh Taofiq, Ekuntakoro and many more scholars in Saki.
Sheikh went back to Kishi to spend few days because he had plans return back to Saki during the Ramadan period, a town where he had gained the support and loyalty of prominent personalities, such as Muhammad Aiki Olusola (Messiah), Fatai Olushola, Mr. Uwais, Mr Ahmed, Muri Arigbagbuwo, Waidi Megida, Mrs. Awele, Miss Mujidat, Fatai Olaiya Ayantebo, and that of the monarch of the town.

His fame had spread
and talks about him had reached many, so when going back to Saki from Kishi, he
took along someone called Alfa Bunyamin as a reciter (Ajanosi) and Alfa Mutiu
(An elderly man) to accompany him. Though, after few days in Saki, Alfa
Bunyamin and Alfa Mutiu had to return to Kishi. Sheikh went for numerous
programmes in Saki, all of which were successful.
After Ramadan, Sheikh
decided to embark on another journey. Sheikh left for Ogbomosho, where he
stayed with a friend called Sheikh Ismail Ibrahim Eleha and also met Alhaji
Muhammad Fulani, who now resides in Ifo, Ogun State. During his short stay in Ogbomoso,
he enjoyed their hospitality and support. Sheikh Ismail Eleha is the founder of
Morkaz Faozu wa Najat Islamic Studies, Ogbomoso. Sheikh insisted he needed to
move on in his journey, so Sheikh Ismail introuduced him to his friend in Oyo
called Alfa Afiz. After spending few weeks in Oyo, words kept coming to Sheikh
(i.e. he received the premonition) that he is not yet in his destination and that
he needed to move on. So, he travelled to Ibadan. On getting to Ibadan, the inner
voice whispered again and told him: ‘it’s not here’. Then he heard a bus
conductor screaming at the top of his voice “Eko Eko Iyana Ipaja Eko (i.e.
Lagos state)”. Then, the voice whispered to him: ‘that is your destination’, so
he boarded the bus and after few hours, they got to Iyana Ipaja, which was the
last Bus Stop. He alighted from the bus and since he had no specific
destination but he had no iota of doubt in his mind (that he was at the right
and divinely-guided destination). He knew his Creator (ALLAH) who sent him on
the journey would never forsake him. As a 12 years old boy, he came to Lagos
without invitation from anyone, no family or relative, no money or expected
shelter. God is wonderful! There is no other GOD except ALLAH!
He was wandering
about the axis of Iyana Ipaja since he had nowhere to go, looking at the
structures, the crowd and the people in a place he perceived as ‘NO MAN’S LAND’.
After few hours of wandering, it was almost time to break his fast, he needed
to break his fast, so he tried to bring out the boiled egg a man he met in the
bus (from Ibadan to Lagos) gave him, but he couldn’t find it. He only saw a
sheet of paper with his own handwriting stating an address from Iyana Ipaja to
Olohunishola.
Let me briefly
explain what transpired in the bus he boarded to Lagos from Ibadan. He was in
the bus at the park, then another passenger came in and sat beside him, he was
a grown up man, so sighting the little boy (Sheikh) he met in the bus, he was
so curious to ask him what he was going to do in Lagos, and Sheikh replied, ‘I
want to go for lectures’, the man was surprised. The Sheikh asked him what he
was going to do in Lagos and the man smiled and he answered, ‘I am a business
man and I have business partner in Lagos, recently we did a job and I guess we
should have been paid and I haven’t received information from the bank about
any payment, so I have to go and check them in Lagos’ and back then (in 2003)
telephones were only used by the elites. As intuitively-inspired from the
Almighty Allah, Sheikh told the man that those he was going to see in Lagos are
already at his house in Ibadan presently as he speaks. It sounded so funny to
the man and he saw those words as a mere child’s play, so he just changed the
topic and asked Sheikh saying ‘Young cleric (Alfa Kekere), would you like to
eat egg’ and Sheikh agreed, so he bought two boiled eggs for sheikh, which Sheikh
put in his polythene bag because he was fasting and the polythene bag also
contained two pairs of cloth. Few minutes later, the wife of the man the Sheikh
was discussing with in bus came looking for her husband at the park and on
sighting him she said “my husband, those you want to go and see in Lagos just
came looking for you at home now, I told them to wait”. ALLAH AKBAR!!! He was
surprised and he looked at Sheikh and said ‘you are such a great man, God bless
you sir’, so he paid his transport fare and gave him extra N500 Naira.
Back to the earlier
illustration of the arrival to Lagos. Sheikh tried to trace the address in the
sheet of paper (he miraculously found in his polythene bag), he was surprised to
find in it an address he never wrote himself (and was in his own handwriting). He
bought that polythene bag when he was coming from Ibadan. He knew (in his mind
that) it was GOD that was at work. The struggle to build the structures began
for Sheikh from a tender age. Talent with hard work brings success, but God’s
grace is a pivotal factor in all we do.
Then he boarded a
bus going to Ipaja from Iyana Ipaja. A strange man called him by his name, his
father name and mother’s name too and he reminded him of everything that has
transpired in his journey. Surprised and saddened because Sheikh feared the
strange man might take him back home, thereby halting his mission. The man then
smiled and said ‘do not be afraid, am not taking you home’, even though Sheikh
never uttered the words to him, he told Sheikh to endure whatever comes his
way. This strange man knew much about him and Sheikh was so surprised about
this. The strange man told the conductor he will be alighting at the next bus
stop and he should take sheikh to Ayobo and direct him on how he can get a bus
going to Bada, in Olohunishola, a remote area.
He got there around
9pm and stayed at the junction where the bike man dropped him without knowing
where to go because the address stated no specific house, Sheikh waited till
11pm, it was dark and the street was so silent, trees and bush paths everywhere,
every doors in nearby houses have been shut. Suddenly, someone flashed a light
from afar coming towards the direction of Sheikh. He got nearer to him and he
recognized him and he said Alfa Jamiu, what are you doing around here? Then he
lifted the torch to his own face and fortunately it was Alfa Munirudeen Aladie
was also a good follower in Saki, who also attended Sheikh’s programs while he
was in Saki. Sheikh never knew he had moved to Lagos. The man was already
working in Oko-Oloyun Company in Igando, though he was still living with his
junior brother Waheed Aladie as at then. He then asked Sheikh to follow him to
his place if he doesn’t mind. He introduced Sheikh to his brother and his
brother welcomed Sheikh and was happy with him. They accommodated him for 3
months in Bada, the brother was selling paints and also a welder.
Then Sheikh was
later introduced to the Chief Imam of Bada town, where 2 days public lecture
was organized by the muslims in that community for Sheikh, the program was
fully supported by the then Chairman of Ayobo Ipaja LCDA in person of
Honourable Prince Bisi Yusuf (now a Member of Lagos State House of Assembly),
so from there several organizations started inviting him to different gatherings
for prayers and sermons. From Olohunishola,
Bada, Ayobo, Ipaja, Jakande Estate and all communities nearby. He gained
massive support and ground till he became an ally to Sheikh Tajudeen Ipaja (now
late), one of the top scholars in that area. He spent 9 months there and his
fame had gone across Alimosho, Ipaja, Fagba, Agege among other area in Lagos
State. Mr. Muniru introduced him to Alhaji Fatai Oko-Oloyun and they became
good friends till date. Afterwards, Habibdeen Islamiyat Society of Nigeria
under the leadership of Amir Imam Mikail Salaudeen and late Alhaji Waheed Yusuf
Ariyo (Chief Missioner) invited Sheikh for 3 days lectures at Rogo bus stop, Iju
and another 3 days lectures the following week at Fagba. After these programmes,
the organizations were so pleased with the turn out and the divine testimonies
by all those that attended the prayer programmes and they approached Sheikh to
kindly join their organization as a cleric, which Sheikh agreed and he moved
from Olohunishola/Bada to Fagba at No. 5, Osho street, behind Oyedele Hospital
and he spent 11months there. He became well known across all axis in the
country as at then.
In 2005, Nasfat
invited Sheikh Jamiu Amiolohun (SJA) to their headquarter in Alausa, Ikeja
during their 10 years anniversary and the programme was attended by most
branches of Nasfat across the globe, fortunately calendars were sold that very
day too, which carries Amiolohun’s photo and also Alhaji Waheed Ariyo photos,
as destiny wants it, someone who attended the program from Kishi bought the
calendar and took it to Sheikh’s family and parents as a prove that he is not
dead nor missing. They came looking for him and they met him and he later went
back to his hometown for a visit and a public lecture, after spending a year
and 11 months away from home as a young boy. Though by then, his popularity had
risen among many states including Oyo, Osun, Ogun states and other South-West states
in general.
In September 2005,
he parted ways with Habibdeen Islamiyat Society of Nigeria where he had enjoyed
massive support of members and masses. By then, one of his ally back home in
Kishi had joined him in Lagos with the approval of his parents and family. He
spent a month at ‘Agbado crossing’ before
he finally got himself 3 bedroom apartment at No. 11, Alhaja Ojukotimi
Street, Akera, Dalemo, Alakuko, Lagos where today he built his own mansion at No.
12, Alhaja Ojukotimi street, Akera, Dalemo Alakuko (Opposite).
THE MINSITRY/MISSION
Within a month he
spent at Agbado crossing “Powerline” with Mr. Fatai Olaiya Saki, Monsuru Omo
Alfa, Ahmed Ibadan, Taoreed Bajegbo, Gafar Bajegbo (Small) who followed him
from Fagba as Murids, he stayed with one of his humble murids, Mukadam Akin
Olohungbebe. It was there and then he had revelations of founding an Islamic organization.
He later moved to his newly acquired 3 bedroom apartment where he later founded
‘Al-Mursalin Islamic Foundation’ towards October/November of year 2005 when he
was just 14 years and six months.
Despite the new
challenge and herculean task ahead of him in this new life of independency,
many still depended on him. He is loved by everyone because he possess a pure
charisma of great leadership, caring attitude, and humility. Praises have been
showered upon him because of the knowledge and physical cum spiritual charisma he
possess, and most especially for the spirit of Kunfayakun (BE AND IT IS) that God
endowed him with from birth. He became close ally with so many Islamic scholars
and prominent people in the society.
In 2005, he was
invited to lead Muslim congregation in sermon and prayers at central mosque of
Niger Republic (Niamey) by the National chief Imam. Sheikh Anofi Modibo (Oganija)
Ilorin became his open friend and also Sheikh Abdul Qadir Solaty (Both now
late).
He was specially
invited to Ouagadougou (the capital of Burkina faso) in 2007 by Yoruba muslim
and was honoured by the Grand Sheikh Khalifatu Tijaniya of the country and his
fellow scholars like Sheikh Rahmotullah. Sheikh stayed in Alhaja Hamdalat’s
house during his visit, the chief imam of Bobo Dglasou honoured him to lead the
non-Yoruba muslims in his ancient central mosque during the Jumat service.
People like Abiola Alapini, Sakariyau Alapini, Ogunha and others was supportive
in his stay in Bobo Dglasou. The stadium was filled up with Yoruba and non-Yoruba
awaiting to hear the sermon of Sheikh Jamiu Amiolohun. It had been a while it
rained over there and during the programmed the people make a prayer request
for rain and Sheikh prayed about it on stage after delivering his sermon. So, he
instructed those who lived far away to start going home because as soon as he
drops this microphone it will start raining. Immediately he dropped the microphone,
it started raining and it rained continuously for 72 hours and Sheikh prayed
for it to stop and it did.
He bought his first
car in 2006 with the support of Alhaji Ibrahim Best. He organized his first
Maolud Nabiyy in 2006 and in attendance was Sheikh Daud Alfa Nla, Chief Imam of
Lagos represented by Alfa Agba Eko in person of Sheikh Gbajabiamila, Sheikh
Modibo, Sheikh Qodri Solaty, Chief Imam of Ijora, Sheikh Abubakar Ariyo, Sheikh
Issa Oke-Odo and many more.
In 2006, he went to
Hajj along with his mum and former P.A, Mr. Fatai Olaiya, that left his work
and family to join Sheikh in Lagos. One Hajj was sponsored by Mr. and Mrs.
Muhammad Adamson, 2nd one was sponsored by Senator Ibikunle Amosun
(Executive Governor of Ogun state) and the 3rd one was given by
Lagos State Government with the influence of Oba Abdul Lateef Adams (Olu of
Agege) now late, supported by the Commissioner for Home Affairs and Culture,
Alhaji Ibrahim Tunde Balogun during the Administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed
Tinubu.
He has been
propagating Islam around the world and in 2009 he celebrated 313 people that
accepted Islam directly through him not to talk of the unknown numbers of
people that accepted true faith of Islam through his sermon. He has been to
several cities, states, town and communities in the country. He went to western
and southern African countries, Gulf Countries and even the United States of
America (USA) for the cause of Allah, to liberate people from villains to hero.
In 2007, he went to
hajj together with his dad with the financial support of Alhaji Shakirudeen
Oyefeso (CEO STACO INSURANCE), his family are now very close to him and he is
close to them too.
He created SJA
Foundation to mark his 26th birthday this year 2017, April 4, An NGO
for him to extend hands of mercy and help to the people in terms of education,
health bill and other necessary amenities for those who are less privilege.
Today, his organization has branches in Lagos, Ogun and Oyo States.
Headquarters is located at Alakuko, Lagos where he bought another land dedicated
to build a mosque on the same street he is living and built his own house, he
bought the said corner piece land for 5 million naira in 2015. The said landed
property was been used for idolatry activities (Ogun Ajobo Shrine) before
sheikh bought it to be used for a mosque with the moral support of Alhaji Morufudeen (Ese Murphy), Baale
Akera, Ajana, Osi, Mr. Musibau MS, Mr.
Saheed Abogun and others.
The land is my
foremost priority and I want it to be the best modern mosque. I hereby humbly
request for the financial support and donation (of Muslims) towards this great
ordained journey of Sheikh Jamiu Amiolohun to the way of the Almighty ALLAH and
Humanity, you can also be a part of this History about to be written. Success
is all about the impact you have in the people’s Life not just wealth or
status. GOD bless you. Long Live Sheikh
Jamiu Amiolohun.
